Harmonica Tuition

I travelled to California to study with master blues harmonica player and teacher David Barrett. I'm accredited by him to teach using his methods and materials. I do 1-1 sessions either in person or via Zoom.

For more information on harmonica tuition please see www.leedsharmonica.uk where there is also a regularly updated harmonica blog. Blues harmonica instruction videos are available on my YouTube channel.

I also maintain a Patreon subscription service on which I post regular (twice a week or more) harmonica related content including instruction material and a range of other befefits. You can join for USD $7 per month. Leeds Harmonica Patreon.

Solo Performer

I play fingerpicking guitar in the American folk/blues tradition.

A songster in the tradition of Mississippi John Hurt, Mance Libscome, Rev. Gary Davis etc, I play a variety of traditional and gospel tunes, as well as early country songs from the likes of Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams. I have an expressive vocal style providing a unique perspective on classic songs.

Also an expert harmonica player, I pepper my sets with haunting solo pieces derived from traditional material.

Accompanyist

I love working with other musicians as either guitar and/or harmonica player. I always strive to "serve the song", whether adding just a sprinkle of spice or functioning as an integral part of the performance. I play without ego and love to collaberate.

Accompanying David Broad on the standard Sitting On Top Of The World. David is a superb Leeds based blues/folk guitar player and singer.

In 2023 I started collaberating with songwriter (and founder/creative director of The Swan Song Project) Ben Buddy Slack on his new solo material. I accompany him at live shows and appear on his forthcoming album You Will See The Light.

The High Hollers

Formed in 2009 and put on indefinite hiatus in early 2023, This guitar and harmonica duo played traditional American music all over West Yorkshire. An ecclectic repertoire ran the gamut of blues, folk, country, rockabilly, jugband and more. For information see The High Hollers website.
